Do-It-Yourself Yard Rules

This marina is a participant in the Maryland Clean Marina Program and has pledged to keep Maryland’s waterways free of harmful chemicals, excess nutrients, and debris. To fulfill that pledge, we require that all repairs be performed in the vessel maintenance area, which is to the west of the light standard in the center of the yard. We require adherence to published best management practices (BMPs) to prevent environmental pollution.

In order to maintain a safe and clean facility, we ask that you comply with the rules governing use of the boatyard.

HOURS OF OPERATION AND OUTSIDE CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

The yard is open from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., seven days a week.

Please keep noise to a minimum at all times.

Outside contractors must abide by all of the marina’s rules and regulations and must have a signed copy of this form on file with our office.

All outside contractors must report to the marina office with acceptable proof of liability and Workers’ Compensation insurance before starting work on any vessel.

HAUL AND LAUNCH

It is your responsibility to open and close all seacocks. You must inform the marina of the Location of any underwater mechanisms or assume responsibility if they are damaged during haulout.

We must have access to the interior of your boat when it is hauled or launched.

You must provide dock lines for launch.

Please keep it clean. There is a $40 minimum charge if marina employees have to clean up after you or your outside service contractors.

Dustless sanders and grinders are recommended. A dustless sander is available for rent from the marina office.

Use tarps or filter fabric under your boat to collect paint chips and other debris.

Use drip pans with all liquids.

Store waste solvents, rags, and paints in covered containers and dispose of them responsibly away from the marina.

No washing or cleaning of painting tools and equipment at the yard.

No washing paint covered or greasy hands or using solvents in the restrooms.

WASTE DISPOSAL

Do not place used plastic and tarps in the dumpster. Roll them up or fold them up and stack them beside the dumpster.

Do not put oil, fuel or anti-freeze in the dumpster. See marina personnel for instructions on waste oil recycling.

Do not pump or drain bilge waste, fuel, oil, anti-freeze, or other hazardous material overboard, ashore or afloat. Collect for hazardous material handling and see marina personnel for disposal information.

GENERAL OPERATING RULES

No sanding or painting over the water.

Report all spills, accidents, or incidents to marina personnel immediately.

We do not loan tools.

We do not allow live-aboards on land.

No unattended heaters on vessels in the yard.

Please disconnect your water hose and electric cords at the end of each workday.

In accordance with Fire Code requirements, boats in dry storage cannot be left plugged into shore power while unattended.

No smoking is allowed in any marina buildings.

If you bring your pet, it must be kept on a leash at all times and you must clean up after it. All pet waste is to be bagged and disposed of in the dumpster.

Masts may not be climbed or unstepped while the vessel is on land.

Boat stands may not be repositioned by anyone other than marina personnel. The stands will be moved, at your request, for a charge of $20 per boat.

We do not loan ladders or extension cords,and we are not responsible for your ladders left in the yard.

A fee of $25 will be charged for each check returned for insufficient funds.

SOLOMONS YACHTING CENTER is not responsible for damage to any wooden boat resulting from yard services it provides the boat’s owner, including lifting the boat from or placing it in the water, pressure washing,moving, blocking, or otherwise manipulating it in this facility. By signing this release,
